The Spath is an Extramaterial creature utilized by the Treloss to enhance their physical and Exouse capabilities. They and their counterparts the Drakonos believe the Spath were created by Yami after his armies began to fall quickly in the face of Hikari’s much vaster army. Drakonos are forbidden by Hikari to engage in union with a Spath and many believe they would just die if they chose to do so anyway.

Spath spend 99% of their lifespans bound to a Treloss’ Soul. This conjoining of Meyda is almost always voluntary and is required for a Spath to live. In return the Spath changes the Treloss into a being similar, but in truth not the same as the original. Usually called Spathoss the new organism resulting in the symbiotic union is much larger, increases the Soul’s potency by an order of magnitude, and causes some irreversible alterations to general physiology. In the rare case that a Spath is outside of a Material host it often forms a pseudo-corporeal form from Pafsitos’ dust and soil. Because of this semi-transparent appearance Drakonos tend to call them Tasma when in that state.

While the Spath is symbiotic to the Treloss it is entirely parasitic when attempting to bond with a Drakonos. It appears to be entirely aware of the DNA of its host and impacts the Soul according to the relation that entity has with Yami. For a Drakonos this means the leeching of one’s Soul leading to symptoms akin to Soul Bleeding. They function as suicidal devastators in this context, quickly driving the Drakonos mad before forcing control over their Soul and Transfusing a fiery, explosive Exouse causing them to appear to spontaneously combust in a massive fireball capable of hitting temperatures that melt steel beams. The biggest hits the Drakonos have ever taken behind their own line is thanks to the deceptive and terrifying work of the Spath.
