Gathering in flocks of 2-5 the Twilight Pipers scour the sands for Geal Worms their primary prey.
The feathers of the Twilight Piper glow faintly due to their diet of worm’s who’s primary source of energy comes from the sun filled sands. These feathers are a prized ingredient in potion brewing, yielding a high price in places like the Zyclester Empire where magical research is common.

Hunting

When hunting the Piper sticks its long sensitive beak into the sand and is capable of detecting movement up to 500 ft. away, however it requires the Piper to stand completely still. Once a piper has detected a Worm it gingerly lifts its beak and begins the partnered hunt. The pipers will fly to opposing positions surrounding the Worm and begin turning up dust with their wings confusing the Geal Worm’s fine tuned senses, forcing it to come to the surface to escape the noise. Once flushed out the birds take turns swooping in attempting to injure or lift the worm tiring it out until it dies or tires out enough that it can no longer burrow so they may begin to feast.
