The number of practicing medicinal workers of any kind on the continent has stayed at an oddly level number as population has grown and technology advanced. This corelates well with the growth of the Church of Hormus as a widespread religion and their Temples which can be found in nearly every city with more than a few hundred citizens and often in hamlets or towns with far less. A Church of Hormus temple is required to be manned by one or more Sundered Priests nearly all of which are capable of some kind of Tiken Workings and thus generally function as the ministers to the local populations spiritual and physical well being. Tiken Workings far outshine all but the Apothecaries in their capacity to heal and make positive change in the body, and have made the need for mundane physicians and surgeons a rarity. However, as the continent fills with growing populations a mighty count of outliers begins to show and plenty of places lack the constant availability of a stationed Sundered Priest instead relying on someone trained to treat maladies and injuries the more traditional way.

Unfortunately a typical physician does not understand the body to a degree that can aid much more than deep cuts, and cleanly broken bones. So many years of Tiken Workings left little time, money or interest in the pursuit of understanding the biology of Attovians. Thus many physicians and surgeons remain helpful only to a certain degree having to fall back on a Sundered Priest or more rarely Apothecary the next town over when the need grows dire. This leaves most of them in an awkward position: They are well respected by their fellow townsfolk yet could become obsolete or useless in a moment depending on the severity of a problem or the migration of a more “gifted” individual.

Education

Currently only the Zyclest University offers a proper set of classes on biology and medical practice. They prefer not to lean solely on the likely presence of powerful Workers or said Workers’ capacity for the Tiken Field. This has shown to bear some fruit, improving the quality of life for the smaller settlements of the Zyclester Empire when compared to other nations. Officially recognized physicians and surgeons (often called Medicators) by the Zyclester Empire are partially subsidized by the government to find work in high output but low population regions where the risk of injury has a much higher cost per capita than in larger towns and cities.
