One of the few products of joint cross-cultural effort by Attovian academics is the Prak. This is the basis of time measurement for the continent and is used by everyone but the Girav gel who do not appear to delineate the days any further than a morning, mid-day and evening. Everyone else utilizes the Prak and its sub-measurements to slice their days into 10 even segments each smaller measurement a tenth of the last.
- Prak
- Esprak (10th of a Prak)
- Meprak (10th of an Esprak)
- Esmeprak (10th of a Meprak)
No smaller measurements than the Esmeprak have yet to be needed by most researchers and Wizards but should they be required a system has been developed: An Attovian Numeral is placed to the upper left of the Esmeprak to inform the reader to what degree the Prak should be divided.
The Prak is Decided
Very shortly after Ornsiire Becomes an Empire a meeting is called in Panjen of the greatest academic minds each nation has to offer. The Zyclester Coalition sent Zsofia Veres, Ornsiire hosted the meeting and sent their first Skrivherre Bela Eros, Zoher sent Head Vladislava, the Jalar Confederation sent a delegate voted on by the Jalar Union: Ott Meyker, the Elves sent Sinwa Arpata, Helva sent Fatma Leyla, the Rugadh Sliabh of Daurk Brionnaigh sent Master Tadgh Leabharchoimeád Éabha and the meeting was remarkably graced by Sachiko the 51st Divine Star. With a base 10 system of numerals already the norm for most in academics it was a quick matter to split the rotation of Attovia into ten increments. According to Master Tadgh Leabharchoimeád the term Prak was put forward by Zsofia Veres coming from ancient Abbaki for “period of time”. The divisions were further defined using additional borrowed words and syllables from the language of the gods.
