No one is quite sure who first invented this technique for forging Clips from quartz but the recipe for the “paint” used is relatively open knowledge. The Sticky Stone paint utilizes the compounds in a Stone Bugs abdomen to add the signature luminescence of a normal Chip or Monster Stone which is added to a blue or purplish pigment and then mixed with a thickening agent before it is painted onto quartz. Alone these faux Chips are easy to distinguish from the real thing at nearly a glance, but when paying in bulk it is much harder to police the use of Sticky Stones. For this reason many have found their way into circulation before being thrown out by the next hands they touch on which they leave sticky residue.
