Rolling Slugs are a unique fresh water bottom feeding invertebrate which as their name suggests roll across the bottoms of lakes, ponds and rivers using the mucus on their thin outer membranes to pick up passing nutrients and detritus. Through a still largely unknown process they fold themselves effectively inside out over the course of several hours and consume anything digestible that was previously attached to them from the outside.
Rolling Slug’s have recently received a small level of protection against overfishing thanks to a previous two decades of scarcity. Found only in large numbers within the Frihet Lake their popularity as the source of Xiaoyu has lead to their trapping in huge numbers. Surprisingly enough it was the Bolin Fan Fishery who first went to the Fu Clan Palace and requested a hearing in regards to new legislation to protect and regulate the continued collection and fishing of Rolling Slugs. Generally well known for his cutthroat business tactics and analytical nature many are still unsure of why Bolin Fan of all people was the one to kickstart this seemingly good natured movement. His competitors are certain something is afoot.
