Not long after the Dragon Rebellion the Dragons entered the continent en masse and spread out rather evenly across the continent finding homes and biomes that were pleasing to their highly varying demeanors. The Blood Dragons found crevices and caves in the many mountains and hillsides, the Tigis Dragons settled into swampy hovels and dens and the Epiko Dragons discovered their keen knack for blending in with all manners of society. This lasted for quite some time before they were driven in near totality to the southeast by the Crystal Guard citing the Skoul Dragons continued loyalty to Graskoroth as the reason for this drastic decision.

Now those few who remain fill the Infested Peaks at the southern reaches of the Shid’rah Mountain Range. Sandwiched between the Graskoroth forest and the Southern Wilds the Infested Peaks once held to their name teeming with an excessive amount of Dragons relative to the space they occupied. Most real Dragon conflicts stemmed from the unrest many found within themselves during this unofficial confinement. Driving one another out in many directions their numbers dwindled as they died to the hands of their brothers, and those who feared them among the smaller species in the civilized portions of the continent. The few dozen left to inhabit those spaces removed from one another enough believe some who left may have found other land masses beyond the sea, claiming distant islands or continents as their own, away from the relentless mortals who have harried them for centuries.

Strange Mountains

The landscape of the Infested Peaks has slowly morphed in odd ways thanks to the now ancient presence of Dragons, primarily Blood Dragons, who have carved away great portions of the mountain interiors and the Tigis Dragons who dig great ravines to find water and build strange semi-subterranean swamps. The presence of so much Meyda-work and the constant influence of Corrupt Meyda from exceedingly potent Souls causes much of the Infested Peaks’ ecosystem to behave abnormally. One can travel quite high in elevation here and notice very little change in air density or temperature, vegetation grows in odd patchy areas that seem to hint at the general location of Dragon habitats and influence. Caves are found almost endlessly among the many peaks and valleys most of which are dry and empty at first glance, but each holding the potential promise of an ageless beings home. Wildlife is abundant but incorrect, the animals found in the Infested Peaks defy their own classification and research, living in biomes nearly in complete opposition to their traditionally observed preferences.

While the Infested Peaks are viewed with much trepidation by locals, most ill advised adventurers who do decide to brave the strange elevated world return unharmed and well off. Though few find what they set out for in origin, the serendipitous meeting with a Dragon. It appears that if they do not wish to be found then there is little that can be done to defy such will.
