The ancient Tzelian’s are credited with the discovery of this remarkable use of Sorte pollen. When boiled until an even paste and mixed with slaked lime the resulting mixture adheres strongly to a wider range of materials than more traditional mortars and is also much more water resistant. Notably all of the mortar used in the Four State Kaamine Building in Neviisi was Sorte Paste based and its remaining stability relative to its size and scope is quite the modern testament to the legitimacy of the substance at scale.

Sorte Paste Mortar is also a highly sustainable resource being a key part of Helvan Farming crop rotations, thus being more easily imported without the risk of sending gathering parties to the northern coast to return with heavy carts full of sand.
