The Shema is an old Komer of the Church of Hormus that was eventually subsumed by the Mutaja. The purpose of the Shema was to put forth, and attempt to answer, questions regarding the legitimacy of aspects of their faith. This manifests as examinations of The Book of Nefiqaddis, thought experiments, and questions about the true lives of Head Priests. Though largely unknown, the Shema’s absorption into the Mutaja was done very intentionally to remove the Shema thanks to the “reduction in Bereaved due to their dangerous candor.” Though the Mutaja fulfill a similar role to the Shema, they present it in a less obvious and straight forward manner. This way, these questions and their potentially disruptive answers (or lack thereof) are found only by those already doing some extensive looking.
