The Mother-tree grows almost exclusively on the western half of the Home-of-safety-high where the Whole-and-sacred-ones live out their peaceful lives. It grows long, extended tendrils from a wide, tall base which are known as Mother-tree-hair vines. From the top of the base several large membranes are stretched out by stiff, brittle growths which cast a thin red shade over the base of the tree and the Mother-tree-hair. These membranes catch light from The-star-trio and use it as their primary food source.

These “vines” are the copulating organs of the Mother-tree and grow easily up to dozens of miles long, easy to mistake for emerged roots as one strolls along the forest floor. The “vine” is of a flesh like consistency and the entirety of each “vine” is covered in soft red fronds with which it communicates and detects other Mother-trees. When two sections of Mother-tree-hair decide to interact with one another the segmented bodies of each will open and small hairs will meet between the openings, exchanging genetic material which will be carried back to the base, to later be incorporated into seedlings which are distributed to the tops of the membranes where they are eaten by Great-beetles which propagate them elsewhere as they defecate.
