After each group of Soul-bearers on Shelush were created they initially lived together in harmony. Not only were they at home with one another, but at home in the forests and wilds of The-continent-of-highs-and-lows as well. They ate as the lower creatures did, from the wild growths of all manner of vegetation and from the chasing of prey. Unfortunately it could not last and their differences began to override the harmonious life they once lived. Each of the three tells it a bit differently:

Breaking the Three-bond According to the Folk-of-brilliant-mind

It was our people who were first to “invent”. We created simple tools, snares, fire and huts which we used to thrive. Without our Legs-to-the-mind yet created we lived in a small area but had devised ingenious ways to ease our slow and aggravating existence. One of The-great-metal-ones happened across one of our snares and in their jealousy took one of our own prisoner. They forced them to create snares for The-great-metal-ones who fed them improperly until their eventual, excruciating death. In response we trapped and secured our small home to prevent any more kidnappings. This enraged The-great-metal-ones and the Nimble-of-the-sky took no notice of our plight as they flitted across the treetops enamored with the simple and useless. With these actions the Three-bond was broken and irreparable.

It was structure which brought us out of a dark age of base instinct. The first of The-great-metal-ones were quick to forming the predecessor to what is now The-government-of-steel. With a chain of command in place before the Folk-of-brilliant-mind and the Nimble-of-the-sky our pace of growth outstripped them. The-great-metal-seed formed us regularly, parents had many children for we could feed them all in organized collaboration with the Folk-of-brilliant-mind. Our growth scared them however, and they began to hide their advancements from us. The Nimble-of-the-sky took message to the Folk-of-brilliant-mind when we attempted to spy or catch sight of their creations. How could our three species thrive if we would not work together? With these actions they broke the Three-bond and we reserved ourselves to growing alone.

With our great wings, and singular abilities in the air we captured many a meal for ourselves and our fellow Soul-bearers. It was so easy for us to obtain ample food that we spent much of our time telling stories and exploring The-continent-of-highs-and-lows. We discovered many wonderous things our home had to offer. Sights, sounds and natural landmarks which inspired us. But Folk-of-brilliant-mind saw us as simple, and The-great-metal-ones were furious at our “frolicking”. It seemed that to each of them our skills were not meant to compliment, but to assimilate. They wished a stillness to our wings which could never be granted. So the Three-bond broke in our silent defiance.
