Thanks to the many Moltings of the Nimble-of-the-sky a habit of the younger folk is etching temporary shapes and doodles in their thick carapace. Though not always something one grows out of as they age the practice is dominated by the youth who are advised by their elders to be careful with the marks they make so as to not gauge slow healing wounds into their hard flesh. The most common method by which Carapace Sketches are made is with brittle stone like obsidian or hard shale. Metal, especially sharpened, is prone to cutting deeper or wider than intended often unintentionally harming the would be artist.
