One of the core philosophies of the Whole-and-sacred-ones; The-powers-of-knowing is an ancient way of thought ascribed to The-oldest-nimble-one. Its source is a number of quotes and passages passed down orally for centuries. From this collection of sayings blooms a massive volume of practices, beliefs and as its Front Name suggests Knowings.
The-oldest-nimble-one
The Names and Knowings of things is the world’s gift to our fragile minds. The threads that bind and connect us all are powerful yet dangerous. The Knowings allow that power to be wielded, and the Names bring new threads. Learning one without the other leaves one half of the mind empty and useless. So each must be learned in tandem, not at the forsaking of its partner.
Knowings
Knowings are a bit like explanations for why certain things occur. There is no known number of them, it is part of The-powers-of-knowing to continue learning them your entire life. To those outside of the philosophy Knowings often appear a bit like superstitions, myth and omens. Some are cataloged here, but this is not how those of The-powers-of-knowing would learn of them. Instead it should be via the exchanging of tales, borrowing of names and tugging at threads.
Long-frond
The Long-frond’s temperamental reaction to its environment has made it a particularly popular specimen for Knowings. Since such things are to be balanced The Names, the Long-frond likely has the most Strong Names of any flora on Shelush. With each Knowing a Name resides and with each Name a Knowing is connected.
Imud Yadera
The long central spine support of the Long-frond’s leaves. The primary Knowing associated with The Name Imud Yadera is “The Spine Droops, the World Fades.” The temporary wilting of the Long-frond is caused by the Imud Yadera losing some turgor pressure, this only happens when it is particularly dry or cold. Since neither state is normal or healthy for the thick rainforests that the Whole-and-sacred-ones live in this is often seen as a portent of death.

Hama
Known as the journey of slow revelation. Hama is the Name of a Knowing most often delivered by the Chief-of a given tribe or by a tribes Most-knowing-one. A Most-knowing-one or Chief-of to be is sent to another tribe just after their Second Molting. Incapable of flight they must trek through The-forests-we-know-and-name on foot and grapple with the true scale of the world which surrounds them.
