There is a place for fictional settings/universes which acknowledge the fourth wall, which “break” it, and which discuss it at large. I enjoy characters and organizations that have a kind of relationship with the perceiver of the medium, but its not what I want out of L’vad. L’vad can encompass many genres without a Multiverse thanks to the concept of Corrupt Meyda, that is, its malleability when it comes to concentrated belief. However, I also world build from as much of a realism stand point as I can with the goal behind each galaxy, solar system and world to be a place that is treated as though it really exists. Breaking the fourth wall at ANY point places the world builder or reader or player in a kind of power scale relationship with the fiction which removes the idea of L’vad’s self contained reality completely. Suspension of disbelief is something to be played with when the fourth wall is in question and it is good fun, but it doesn’t work on what has become the founding ethos of L’vad.

This isn’t to say that “L’vad must be taken seriously” or “L’vad is searching to be profound” or at all a comparison to any other project in any other medium. It’s simply the way I want to interact with L’vad and the way I choose to present it to the world. Should anyone someday write “fan fiction” or their own work utilizing my setting which breaks the fourth wall I will not rage against it or sit in a silent surly lump turning my gaze so as not to see it, such a thing would be an honor even if I wouldn’t be able to ever see it as canon.
