Jimmy Silverham (Alden) - Episode 1

Hi folks. My name is Alden (he/him) and I’m the lorekeeper and main worldbuilder of the Realm of Theorutis, my own D&D campaign setting written as a labor of love, paying homage to some of the greats like Middle Earth, Tamriel and Exandria. I’ve been writing this world for about 10 years, ever since I was in high school at about 16 years old.

As stated, this world was started as a custom D&D campaign for me to host for a group of my friends in high school. The world is still in what could be called “active development”, and having started from a relatively young age, compared to my recently turning 27 (unc status), it’s should come as no surprise that much of my early work was very sporadic and unorganized. Many things from my world’s lore have been retconned, while many, many different things have been added, including a proper historically accurate timeline, a completely fleshed out and simplified calendar. There is also an entire pantheon of Gods and Godlike beings, referred to officially as the Exiron, and a whole host of organizations, cults and religious orders who worship said Gods. With a timeline split into four different periods of history, spanning across around 1500 years of time, each Aeon is climaxed by a significant historical event, more often than not considered to be a large traumatic event that effects a good majority of the world.

The world, called Theorutis, has a total of four continents. The most developed of which is Kho’Vaine, a country with a wildly varied landscape, Kho’Vaine is home to its fair share of multiple different kinds of terrain. From Mountains to forest to sheer cliffs of powder snow, there’s no shortage of gorgeous scenery in this continent. Though the southern side of the continent itself is primarily grasslands and fields, known as the Horster Expanse, In the northeast, you’ll be hard pressed to find these same open fields. More northern is a more forested region, filled with many different kinds of dense foliage and woodlands, namely the Aember Brambles. Contained within which is the capital city of Dathlazam, a large multi-tier city found at the base of the Epdiac Peak, the continents largest mountain.

Secondly, found across the Cerulean Sea on the southern coast of Kho’Vaine is the arid desert country of Imit, a gargantuan desert country with an opposingly simplistic landscape. Being mainly comprised of massive sand dunes, you can find the occasional oasis or rocky canyon, most of which have been occupied by civilizations small and large. Found smack in the center of the desert landscape is a huge salt flat, atop which is the capital city of Daskus, an extensive white sandstone city constructed around a massive spire of the same white sandstone. Run by the Daskus Empire, the military of this city is frequently found on colonizing conquests into the deep desert, their goal to occupy and conquer any and all territory in the continent.

Another is Zauthebaar, a massive jungle continent is inhabited only by undiscovered cultures and animals. On this huge jungle island, there is no established modern civilization. There are large villages of island inhabitants who mainly build their villages around large unknown temple or zigguraut structures that have been found on the island. These cultures are comprised of many many different kinds of people, most of which all live in relative harmony with each other. You can find humanoids living alongside snake people. Others hive in secluded villages away from other kinds of people, thus have grown into their own unique cultures.

The fourth of which is as of now unknown, even to me. As stated, this world is in “active development” and all sorts of things could still be added, changed or overwritten. Though, I am ambitious and hopeful that the further this world develops, the more full a alive it will feel.
