The Jalar Union is the entity which governs the Jalar Confederation or just Jalar as it has come to be known in more recent years. Each of the original Founding States of Jalar have maintained their borders and utilize them to run individual census counts which are used to calculate the number of representatives for that state.
Northern Katki
Northern Katki is benefited by being allowed to count Neviisi as within its own borders and gets a bit of a population boost compared to its relative landmass. Northern Katki fields 32 representatives who live in the Four State Kaamine Building.
Katki representatives tend to put forward and push for a decrease in trade regulation along The Ocean Way. Currently heavy regulations inhibit extensive exports over sea thanks to the inherent danger and have limited growth in Northern Katki. They have lost 4 representative seats in 20 years and are looking for an upturn.
Southern Katki
Very much the opposite of its northern twin in landmass-to-population ratio Southern Katki holds the most land by square footage but lacks a comparable population. Southern Katki fields 38 representatives.
Southern Katki has never truly recovered from the devastation it experienced during the Meyda War. The scars of its many horrific battles have had a lasting impact on so much of the landscape and thanks to the dwindling populations inability to maintain the ever failing infrastructure left behind they continue to stagnate. Southern Katki representatives have been pushing, in conjunction with Duzi, several proposals for the inception of new social welfare and growth incentivizing systems to aid their portion of the nation.
Duzi
Duzi is the smallest portion of land and struggles financially leading to a low population thanks to economic instability. Duzi fields 23 representatives.
Duzi’s heavy Gnomish population has recently struggled thanks to an overturning of the exclusionary baking contract leaving their previously powerful monopoly over said industry complete inert. They have since joined with South Katki to try and push humanitarian aid policies for the betterment of both their states.
Alaptany
Alaptany holds immense economic power and substantial land. The majority of employed citizens of the country work in Alaptany in the Workers Chalk Mines and thus they field the most representatives at 49.
Alaptany holds immense power being in possession of the Chalk Mines and has a near oppressive hold over the Confederation’s finances. Many representatives of the other states are consistently bribed or blackmailed by the more resource rich Alaptany representatives. So far the Duzi and Southern Katki proposals fail to pass in Kaamine thanks to many of their own members falling to corruption. Alaptany controls both the extraction and exporting of Workers Chalk, passing consistent laws and regulations that cement their place as the foundation of the confederations economy further reducing the ability for their fellow states to gain meaningful ground or have their voices heard.
