Thanks to the rise of the Coalition of Farmers Helvan farming has progressed over the last three decades at a rate far outpacing other developed nations. Having a source of funding for the purpose of research and development has led to the discovery of crop rotation, selective breeding, hygiene improvements and a number of Workings to improve irrigation methods. Helvan farms vary based on region but thanks to regulations pushed by the CoF consistently split their land in a ration 2 parts crop 3 parts livestock (this includes grazing land). Whether or not a farmer is wealthy enough to run a Spider Ranch off of their land is up to them and as yet unregulated.

Typical Crops

Many crops are grown by Helvan farmers but the most common include Fehel, Sorte, Hajik and Doboz. Typical modern crop rotations are still rare and are being implemented steadily usually like so:
Fehel/Sorte Doboz Hajik

Livestock

Most farmers in Helva have a dozen or so Sika thanks to the popularity of their milk and cheese. The majority of land for livestock housing and grazing however goes to one of two animals with an optional tertiary choice tacked on depending on how much land a farmer has to work with.

Hakher or Karva

Depending on the farmer’s skillset or heritage they may choose to keep Hakher for their enviable hides or Karva for their luxurious fur. At large not many Helvan farmers raise any livestock for the purpose of meat after slaughter, this occurs more heavily in the Zyclester Empire and Ornsiire Empire. Hakher unfortunately do not very good meat for eating, they are very gamey and thanks to their size often dotted with tumors which are rather hard to remove in totality.

Iti’mim

For those who have excess space Iti’mim can be invaluable but their ROI comes heavily delayed. The blood of an Iti’mim has remarkable power as a fertilizer improving crop health and yield by a factor of almost 50%.
