Not long after the Caging of the Demon Lords no longer under the oppressive thumb of The Hebdomad many groups began to crop up calling themselves Corruption Cleansers citing their purpose as “The Crystal Guard’s cleanup crew, here to rid the world of the corrupt Demon Lords’ leftovers.” This purpose was unfortunately used as a way to ostracize and exterminate Tieflings and the still misunderstood Amodians for centuries. Though often simple, thrown together crews of locals stirred up by hate, jealousy, envy or all of the above there were a number of larger organized troops who nomadically moved from village to village offering their grim services to townsfolk.

It is obvious now to the modern Attovian populace that the nature of Tieflings is one entirely afflicted and never chosen. Though groups stuck in the past still exist who attempt to alienate those with signs of demonic corruption in their genes they struggle to gain traction even in the most remote villages. Historically it seems relatively clear that though some of these larger troops appeared truly convinced that they were purging the Demonic remains of the Hebdomad, most of the recorded activities showcase clear patterns related to targeting individuals who appear to have wronged these groups even if only in some small way.

The most common form of execution used by Corruption Cleansers was Public Immolation and contributed heavily to its general popularity as a form of public execution for many centuries to come. Other, darker tales have been told time and time again about the horrors committed by these ignorant, spiteful groups and there are many who may have wished for the quick release of Public Immolation.
