Thanks to several centuries of relatively open trade and borders an expansion of not just trade in general but the theory and practice of it has taken place during the Time of Rest. One such development that has taken hold in the last 150 years is the idea of franchising. Wealthy businesses and individuals have taken to offering franchise opportunities to those who wish to run a business but without the traditional overhead cost or risk. The current largest example of this idea is the Virson Company which offloads its operations onto franchisees who have seen very lucrative lifestyles thanks to the demand and volume of use for really any Virson Station.
Notably the Shen Dynasty backed by Zoher prohibits the franchising of baking business to ensure that no single Gnome family can create or maintain a monopoly on the business.
Franchising Struggles
Currently it is difficult to properly police and enforce anyone who decides to steal the ideas or concepts of a business and begin a franchise or single competitor of their own. Currently only the Zyclester Empire, Shen Dynasty and the Jalar Confederation support idea ownership and prosecution for its infringement. Amiri Pot Storefronts in particular have dealt with this problem immensely thanks to the easily reproducible Meyda-circles in their design.
