A few dozen miles to the northeast of the Ambar Tree the Logalands stand as one of the final places in the Attovian east where the Old Workings still preside. Long ago a sect of Elves who called themselves the Naed Pad, “True Path” in Elvish, and they remain the only civilized residents of these region of the Ambar Forest. The Cundo in Ambar were happy thousands of years ago, and remain happy leaving the Logalands to the Naed Pad thanks to its limited natural resources and the incurred costs to settle the area.

The result is an esoteric and mysterious landscape permanently flooded, crawling with True Monsters who lurk just beneath the flooded woodlands surface and forever shifting thanks to the Naed Pad’s mastery of the Old Workings. Strangely the True Monsters who practically infest this area never seem to propagate further into Elvish lands. It has been posited by several researches who successfully visited the area that there may be more True Monsters in this small swath of flooded forest floor than anywhere else on the continent combined, and should the simple but effective barriers of the Naed Pad fail then all of Beleg gúl might be at risk.

Phenomena of the Old Workings

Shifting Lands

From Tabitha Brentwood, after a survey of the Logalands

To sleep in the Logalands is to request change. Without fail when collective eyes are closed the environment adjusts itself in accordance to the rhythm of a song only it can hear. On occasion just the simple act of turning around if so done in ways which left portions of vision to mystery could enable the trees and mounds of soil that peak above the waterline to shamble about before our foreign eyes brought them back to stillness.

I am thankful for our guide Afam for his aid and I do not believe anyone could find their way out of this place without the aid of the gods or blind luck without the wise direction of a true Naed Pad.

Old Workings in their strange quiet suddenness pervade every area of the swampy Logalands. It shifts and moves every portion of itself in ways that baffle the minds of all who enter. Even woodland creatures who steer too far into its territories are so unaccustomed to the new strangeness they encounter that their wild natures fail them.

Soul Memory Hallucinations

From Tabitha Brentwood, after a survey of the Logalands

Afam advised before we even began our journey, against ever pursuing individuals into the nearby forest. Even if they appeared to be members of our party, or lost loved ones. Strange pulls are made by the Logalands on one’s Soul provoking visions not unlike those recorded by individuals who survived encounters with Blood Dragons. I can only assume something about the Old Workings brings out this strange behavior.

When time enough has been spent in the Logalands, varying from 2-5 days depending on the potency of the Soul, the environment begins to display elements of the creatures Soul Memories. These most often appear as distant figments running or ducking behind thick tree cover, but can in extreme cases involve entire conversations or other direct experiences. If lost for extensive amounts of time it is possible for individuals to later experience Soul Bleeding as well and slowly lose themselves in the many miles of flooded woods.
