Gone to Surf

When my dear and darling wife expressed to me her woes
We packed our bags and journeyed north for ice and ocean shoals
The travel long, the road a mess but all along the way
I found a secret happiness from watching every day

Her ruby skin a striking hue is painted by Lev’el
If beauty could be bottled, to none she wouldn’t sell
When road connected old to new our home we furnished fine
With wit and charm and hope and love and all of it was mine

A jealousy I quickly found for surf and seaside beach
She clung to both with fearsome strength, always out of reach
I lavished her with cherished presence, loitered for her glance
Always she returned to them leaving every chance

I pattered on with grace and poise I would not be rebuffed
But even I the loyal king felt loss of queenly love
Our only shared emotion now infatuations pull
Me for her and her for only krakens home most cruel

The night was dark I lie awake in bed of solitude
The lover given all of me gone out to seek the flood
A burning in my Ogen deep as something saps my mirth
Loneliness tolls my soul for my light has gone to surf

A favorite of the famous Minstrel Worker Balasar Myastan and debated to have been his own creation. Gone to Surf describes the perspective of a loyal lover watching their partner descend into a complete obsession with the sea.
