Perhaps once an Attovian generation a Nature Bound is born. The mother and father are rarely special or notable in any way, but their child will be nothing short of extraordinary. Originally Nature Bound beings were dubbed Attovia’s Chosen. Over time the truer nature of their condition overwrote the older mythology and they took on their current title. The state of a Nature Bound child is immediately discernable upon birth. Depending on the natural entity that has effected the infant Soul they will exhibit specific physical signs at birth which will pronounce with age. Forest Bound have a number of small sprouting plants on the top of their heads, Mountain Bound have a piercing glow in the white of their eyes and the Ocean Bound’s gills pulse in time with their breath.
The precise criteria that must be true for a Nature Bound to be born are yet unknown. Different cultural and ideological groups view the phenomenon very differently, to some it is a pure blessing and others see it as a bittersweet curse or even a total loss of free will and autonomy. As a Nature Bound child grows they are impelled towards the protection, obsession and at times worship of the entity that has effected them. They are granted a number of supernatural gifts that appear to function via a near unbreakable Tether that links them to their patron entity and these gifts vary, unique to the individual and always within a certain sphere based in the type of entity. Though always effective, the gifts given take on extreme potency when the Nature Bound inhabits the entity that chose them.
Forest Bound
Forest Bound often grow full heads of grass and flowers on their heads, shoulders, armpits and privates. It has been noted that some historical descriptions of Forest Bounds appear to suggest large scale treelike branch growth from the heads and shoulders as well. Forest Bound are often gifted with powerful Workings capable of infusing plant life with sudden vitality, are capable of attracting animals of all kinds, and can almost always regenerate their body from extreme levels of destruction.
Mountain Bound
Mountain Bound flesh slowly grays and cracks with age, and their eyes glow as though effected by Meyda-bombardment. Generally Mountain Bound have a near telekinetic ability when it comes to the control and manipulation of stone, their skin is hard enough to repel heavy long swords, and they regularly hibernate for long periods enhancing their natural lifespan by an order of magnitude at the cost of wakefulness.
Ocean Bound
Ocean Bound are capable of breathing underwater by the age of five, and if they do not maintain a dual life on the surface can lose their lungs’ ability to extract oxygen from the air entirely. Ridged lines form on their arms and legs that mirror features of the Girav gel, and depending on their primary environment a thick outer layer of fat builds up to provide enhanced insulation. Usually the gifts of an Ocean Bound include the ability to manipulate the sound produced by their body, capable of creating powerful shockwaves they are extremely dangerous in the water, and still troublesome on land. Those who have built up an adequate blubber layer can comfortably live in the frigid north with minimal issues.
